'Barrel Insert' Zig Zag SticksCreated to meet winemaker’s needs to extend the productive lifecycle of their barrels by another two years. The sticks are secured to the bottom of the bung and dropped into the barrel where they should age with the wine for 2-4 months. It is recommended to clean the barrel before using the sticks. Set of 28 units (3kg). 1 set of sticks for 1 x 225L Barrel (1m squared, or 50% equivalent of a new oak barrique - similar oaking level to a second fill barrique), connected with food grade plastic 'ties'. There are also 25% sets (French only at this stage). Each set is packed in foil bag Available in French or Americal Oak - Medium & Medium Plus Toast. The oaks selected for the Zig-Zag are naturally open-air dried for a period of 24 months, and undergo the same rigorous selection and quality controls as all of the cooperages materials. Zig-Zag is to be introduced and removed through the mouth of the filled barrel, without requiring removal of the barrel contents or heads. Zig-Zag’s main advantages:
